How to Build a Programming System Across a Performance Gym

The difference between random workouts, rigid templates, and an architecture coaches can individualize without losing standards.

The programming problem in a growing facility is rarely a lack of exercises. It is the lack of an agreed architecture that helps coaches make good decisions for different athletes, training ages, schedules, equipment, and seasons.

Standardize the decision process—not every workout

A useful system defines training goals, block order, movement patterns, progressions, regressions, risk rules, and coaching standards. It should still leave room for the coach to select the right exercise, load, and progression for the person in front of them.

Connect assessment to prescription

Assessment information should influence the program instead of living in a separate report. Goals, training experience, schedule, readiness, restrictions, and available equipment all need to shape the assigned path.

Make execution simple for the client and coach

The client needs today’s work, excellent instructions, previous results, approved swaps, and a simple way to log. The coach needs readiness, completion, progression, pain, and performance signals without opening every workout one by one.

Business software should understand training delivery.
